In every spiritual tradition, it is the “joy irrespective of outward circumstances” that is said to be the true and healthy joy. Joy that is for a reason, i.e. “joy because of this or because of that” is recognized to be based on attachment, and ultimately will leave us stranded in grief.
And yet joy does not spring up unbidden out of nowhere. Joy is associated with the Fire element, and to harbor Fire, we need a space for it, with air, and fuel, and ground beneath. Tending our hearts, clearing the space and making it ready for joy, is the natural task of summer—and the Solstice is the moment when nature most abundantly supports the dispelling of shadows, and the re-establishment of joy.
Come join us for an experiential exploration of true joy, for no reason. This is not frivolous, light, or in any way escapist. We must bear our grief, our fear, our rage, and our worry—sometimes all at once! But to live our full lives, we must live our joy, too.
A New Online Experience
This teleconference will be like no other that you have taken. We will use a variety of gentle yet effective online health and hygiene measures to create a Group Heart that will be nourishing, palpably connected, and rich with transmission.
