From Joy to Propriety

Cultivation of the Fire Element in summer is essential to health. The opportunity to open in warmth, allowing ourselves to blossom fully in life, is a task requiring surprising amounts of tenderness. We must learn to be playful, but without losing our sense of responsibility.

We must be able to expand beyond ourselves to connect with others, but without scattering. We must overcome shame and inhibition, but without losing propriety. We must connect with each other spontaneously, and yet seek the kind of loving friendship that will endure—to keep us warm through the long winters to come.

Join us for a weekend of warmth and playfulness designed to allow us to heal some of the scars that have kept us from openly flowering. Together we will learn how to reach out and invite each other to smile with our true face.

Topics in Fire

• Shyness and shame

• How to “start a fire” socially

• What is funny, and to whom

• Safety and vulnerability

• Navigating confusion

A Special Setting

In beautiful rural Vermont, we will explore acupuncture, herbs and energetic exercises designed to support our Fire Element and the Fire Elements of our clients and families—on a Me First basis!

Please note: This retreat is held at Thea Elijah’s house in southern Vermont. There is availability for eight people to stay at the house itself, lots of room for tents on the lawn, three spaces at a neighbor’s airbnb, and possible other free or inexpensive lodging options nearby.

“I highly recommend Thea’s teaching if you want to learn more about how to understand yourself and others with a level of emotional subtly that is deeply satisfying, and if you yearn for more richness in your life—richer communications and beingness in your body and the world.”

– Jeanelle Steiner

“I have never met a more gifted teacher. Thea embodies the herbs and formulas in such a beautiful and heartfelt way, that what would otherwise be mere information becomes a living immediate experience for the student. Don’t blink or you’ll miss something intensely wonderful and unique.”

– Ki Ennes, M.Ac., L.Ac.
