Healing Ourselves, Healing Our Communities, Healing Our Planet

Nothing stays the same—and that is more apparent than ever these days. Making Connections is a standing invitation to WHC students to re-connect, and re-connect again, with the people and practices that are the WHC community.

At each WHC Making Connections gathering, we will begin with a 90-minute teaching in which Thea Elijah shares a Whole Heart Connection practice or perspective relevant to the times that we are living now.

Then, after a 30-minute break, we will spend three 50 minute sessions (with 15-minute breaks) in Q&A and group heart check-in, while we practice our regenerative WHC skills together.

The spirit of the gathering is keeping our WHC practices alive and at peak relevance for our lives as they keep changing, and changing again.

Thea’s teaching voice both whispers and shouts of her experience and wisdom, giving me the supportive nourishment to keep asking the better questions. Those questions are… within myself… with my patients… with life itself. These works encourage me. They remind me of why I want to be a practitioner, still, after 20 years. They also explain so much of what I have already encountered and what could be yet to come. These writings help me value my own capacity to deepen, to be still, to bring forth an open heart for medicine that is not always curative but yet transformative and loving.

Whole Heart Connection for Personal and Social Healing

These are tools for fostering equality even in the midst of social power imbalance, and for becoming effective agents of social change without courting burn-out. In fact, Whole Heart Connection will do more for your health than you would have believed possible in such difficult times.

Whole Heart Connection practices draw upon aikido, Chinese medicine, and Sufism, all of which teach us that healthy change takes place on a me-first basis. Our goal is the well-being of entire communities, and so we are committed to fostering personal health every step of the way. There is no division between being an activist and taking care of ourselves.
